The proposed accounts are the first in Torrevieja to pass the €200 million mark. They include higher staffing allocations for the Policía Local (local police), more money for waste collection, street cleaning and parks, and increased support for primary social care and non-governmental organisations.
The plan also includes a new round of young renters’ support, improvements to schools including shaded playground areas, and more than €47 million in planned capital investment. Major projects listed include the Museum of the Sea and Salt, a new Alzheimer’s day centre and work around the port. The council says the figures are forecasts and that the budget keeps property-tax rates unchanged.
