The ruling concerns an incident in Torrevieja in October 2025, when officers attended a home after a report of a domestic dispute. The man hit one officer in the face and then struggled with the officers who attempted to restrain him.

Both officers were injured. One needed 21 days to recover from an ankle sprain and swelling, while the other suffered knee and facial injuries, required medication and ten rehabilitation sessions, and took 112 days to recover. The defendant was convicted of resisting officers and two offences causing injury.

The compensation includes €1,600 for one officer and €6,605 for the other, plus legal interest. The Unified Association of Civil Guards, which represented the officers, welcomed the ruling and called for stronger legal protection for police personnel.
