The extraordinary council meeting approved the accounts with only the Socialist group voting against them. The governing parties say the budget balances income and spending while maintaining major investment and increasing resources for public services, including waste collection, street cleaning and parks.
Planned projects include the Museum of the Sea and Salt, a new Alzheimer’s day centre, the redevelopment of Playa de Los Locos promenade and improvements around La Plasa and the port. The Socialist group criticised what it described as questionable income forecasts, uncertain financing and a rise in municipal debt.
