The investigation began in mid-October after residents reported break-ins in the town centre and nearby residential areas. Investigators say the suspect focused on empty homes, watching properties to establish when people were away before allegedly taking cash and valuables that could be moved and sold easily.
Officers linked two attempted or interrupted burglaries to the same man, who had already been arrested in 2025 over 25 property crimes in Cehegín. The investigation remains open, and the Guardia Civil has not ruled out links to other burglaries in the municipality.
