Orihuela event to explore Roma history and culture

The event will look at the Roma community’s history, cultural contribution and current challenges, including discrimination, hate speech and antigypsyism. It is aimed particularly at education professionals and students in social integration and equality-related fields, but it is open to everyone interested.

Juan David Santiago Torres, from the University of Alicante’s Diversity Support Unit, will give the talk “Past, present and future of the Roma people”. The programme will finish with a performance by Alicante group Cafetito Flamenco and aims to encourage respect, equality and coexistence.
