The event is organised by the town hall's Family Department as part of a programme recognising couples who have shared five decades of married life. The initiative began last year with ceremonies in the rural districts of La Murada and La Matanza, bringing the recognition closer to residents outside Orihuela's urban centre.
This year's gathering will take place at the Virgen del Camino senior citizens' centre from 18:30. The selected district was chosen after information was requested from all the municipality's districts, with the aim of extending the tribute progressively to other rural communities.
The celebration will bring together the honoured couples, relatives and local residents for an evening of recognition and community life. Participating couples will receive a commemorative gift during the public ceremony.
