A Constitutional Court decision has removed one of the legal protections that had been used to defend the homes, but it does not allow demolition work to begin immediately. Further administrative steps are required, including formal notices to owners and the preparation of the technical projects needed for the individual properties.

The previous joint project presented by the owners is no longer the basis for the process. Almost half of the owners oppose demolition, which means that separate files may have to be prepared and assessed. The mayor has argued that the current situation makes a rapid operation impossible.

Coastal erosion continues to affect the area, including land damaged by recent heavy rain and sea conditions. February is now described as the earliest possible horizon, subject to the remaining administrative decisions and any political changes after the elections.
